Client Testimonials

“I was in so much pain when my husband gave me the tragic news. I didn’t think I could bare it alone and I knew I needed a good lawyer who could help me get out of this toxic marriage as quickly as possible. My husband didn’t love me and the last thing I could bear was being trapped in a situation where I was being neglected of the love and loyalty I deserved.

You have made this process so easy and smooth…I can hardly believe it’s over. Thank you so much for helping me and a big thanks to your law firm for accommodating me as well. I truly appreciate and hope you can realize my gratitude for all of your efforts. This early divorce was an answer to prayer and I thank you and the courts for granting me an early release from pain and suffering. Now I can move on without looking back.

Thank you, thank you, and a million more for granting me my freedom.”

About

Jaclyn Robertson joined Schmidt Law Firm in 2017.  Jaclyn’s practice focuses primarily on family law and criminal defense.  She received her undergraduate education at Westminster College, graduating as Outstanding Graduating Student in History, B.A., in 2001. She continued her education at McGeorge School of Law in California, receiving her Juris Doctorate Degree in 2004.

Formerly a prosecutor with the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office, Jaclyn knows the intricacies of the criminal justice system.  She has extensive litigation experience, having handled hundreds of cases from initial screening through to jury trial verdicts.  Her time at the District attorney’s office included six months on the misdemeanor team, three years on the domestic violence team, and one year on the juvenile team as the appointed Special Victims prosecutor.  The experience she gained handling the intense and complex domestic violence and special victims cases, give her a unique perspective and expertise.  The interpersonal demands and her success in that role prove her an excellent fit for her clients in her family law practice. She advocates and sees individuals through inherently personal and stressful cases, ranging from divorce and custody resolutions, to enforcement or modification of existing orders.

Before returning to Utah, in 2006, Jaclyn spent a year on the Hill, in Washington DC, drafting legal memoranda and Op Eds as Legal Assistant in a United States Congressional Office.

Jaclyn began her career in 2005 with Porter Simon, a California law firm.  A civil litigation associate, she worked on a variety of cases ranging from domestic disputes to personal injury matters, both at the trial and appellate level.

Born and raised in Canada, Jaclyn is fluent in French and Canadianisms.  She hikes, bikes and explores the Utah Mountains and other beautiful places, whenever time permits.  She loves spending time with her two children, adventuring with them around Salt Lake City and beyond.
