About

Divorce Attorney Utah, Family Law, the founder of Schmidt Law Firm, Stacey Schmidt has been practicing law in Utah for 26 years. After earning both her bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate Law Degree from Brigham Young University, Stacey began her legal career in a non-profit law firm, working as a litigator as well as managing attorney over cases specializing in representing victims of domestic violence situations.

Upon leaving the non-profit law firm, Stacey embarked on a private practice partnership, as well as owning her own law practices, where she continued much of the work she was doing in the non-profit, continuing to help victims of domestic violence. Her time in the private sector has helped her gain significant experience in litigating cases in the following fields: family/domestic law, estate planning, criminal and public interest law.

With a sincere dedication to the well-fair of her community, Stacey has served on multiple boards. Her work and service have been given to the Utah Couty Food & Care Coalition, Board of Directs; as a Member of Utah Domestic Violence Counsel; Member of the Utah State Bar Family Law Executive; Utah State Bar Continuing Legal Education Committee; Member of the Utah Family Law Journal Committee; Brighton High School Lacrosse Board. Stacey has also been and continues to serve as a Pro Bono Lawyer for the Davis County Violence Project.

When she’s not working, Stacey enjoys spending time with her family, her Australian Shepherd dogs, experiencing the outdoors, and enjoying her empty nester and travel time with her husband. If not a lawyer, Stacey would dedicate her time to being a computer programmer.

Originally from Alberta, Canada, Stacey has a rich native heritage and legal background. Her great-grandfather was the first Native Senator in Canada, and her father was a professional cowboy and a retired lawyer in Canada.
